Good morning, Murrieta.

Residents reported that their backyard fruit trees loaded with peaches, nectarines, figs, and plums were left bare overnight—wildlife or alleged theft is to blame—and neighbors shared their heartbreak on social media while seeking answers.

They hope to find ways to prevent this recurring loss as summer progresses.

Local gardeners are urged to water early in the morning with deep, infrequent watering to help plants survive the August heat—drip irrigation and mulch are recommended to retain moisture during the dry season.
