ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new law called ‘No Tax on Tips Act’ was signed on July 4 to ease tax burdens on servers, bartenders, hairstylists, and tattoo artists across Southwest Riverside and nationwide. Mason Stackman from Karl Strauss Brewing Company said he is cautiously optimistic that the law will boost take-home pay—service workers are adjusting their budgets in light of the change.  Valley News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Between July 1 and 14, over 1200 dogs and cats arrived at the shelter, pushing the dog population beyond 240% capacity and leaving more than 1000 dogs in overcrowded kennels, with just over 20% already returned to owners. The shelter will be open until midnight Saturday, July 19 for adopters + fosters to help ease the overcrowding and reduce the risk of euthanasia.  Valley News

  • Murrieta native Anthony Orozco won a unanimous decision over Brazil's Luan Duarte at Cage Warriors 192 in London on July 12, improving his pro record to 7-0 + all his wins have come by TKO or decision.  Valley News
