  • Murrieta Fire & Rescue hosted its 79th annual Firefighters BBQ at Town Square Park Saturday, drawing residents for live music, local vendors & the signature smoked tri-tip. Fire Explorers and cadets helped set up and run the event as the department celebrated nearly eight decades of service.  Valley News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Golden Bears beat Murrieta Mesa 8-2 last Friday with standout pitching by Mateo Mendoza & key plays by Will Bandel. The team will face Great Oak Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at home & look to extend their league winning streak.  Valley News
  • Murrieta driver Edward Finger shifted from Pure Stocks to Hobby Stocks at Barona Speedway on April 11 and finished second in the heat before an ignition coil failure ended his main event. He said he will return next time, as the division is set to race again on May 9.  Valley News
  • The Linfield Christian Lions will host the Woodcrest Christian Royals Tuesday at their home field as both teams aim to break three-game losing streaks. The Lions, with a historic 10-0 record against the Royals, will try to regain momentum while the Royals work to tighten their defense.  Valley News
